Blaugust #14: Art Archives

This is a bit of a cheat, but also a long time coming. Welcome to a very brief overview of the evolution of my digital art! Like many children fostered by deviantArt, the first tablet I ever had was a Wacom Bamboo Pen Touch CTH-470 in probably 2010. That's about when I made some truly horrendous artworks that helped me get where I am today. I'm no Michelangelo but I think I'm doing alright (not really). Also, I said I'd show how my art changed to Alice, so really this is for Alice. Hi Alice!

2012 (12-13)

Honestly, no idea what I'm doing. Just got the tablet, I'm scared.

2013 (13-14)

Very tiny improvements, but I am struggling. Kids these days can make amazing art at 14! That was not me haha!

2014 (14-15)

It seems that in 2014 I got mad about being bad at digital art so I started making some kind of digital/traditional hybrids. I only really got back to digital a year into uni.

2015 (15-16)

This isn't even really digital, I just slapped filters onto everything.

2016 (16-17)

A slight return to digital, but it's bad.

2017 (17-18)

The year I graduated high school, the first piece is from my final art show. The others are just doodles after I already started uni.

2018 (18-19)

Getting cartoon-y. I've been drawing comics and stuff for ages, but all on paper. Weirdly obsessed with national days. Guys, the official account for the Fiji tourism board liked my illustration on Insta so...

2019 (19-20)

I'm still on my exchange in Finland. I tried Inktober last year but got bored, tried again, sort of finding a style here.

2020 (20-21)

Tried Inktober again. Big success! Did all of it and made some work that I'm honestly still proud of (the black and white witch series).

2021 (21-22)

A year post-graduation. No job, no prospects. Covid is kicking my ass still. At least the art is sort of going. I try to get more painter-ly. Fail. Try having a weekly comic. Fail. Man, it's hard out here... but I do make the very first version of my site.

2022 (22-23)

Got into the community part of fandom for some time, did some fan art. A really hard year, the art doesn't come easy. But I had a great Inktober, it's when I did most of the art from this post

2023 (23-24)

So much unfinished work! But an alright year overall, trying new things. That's nice.

2024 (24-25)

Same problem as last year, but worse. I realize I haven't actually 'painted' in a while. Most of my work has a very heavy lineart but it's kinda what I like right now.

2025 (25-26, Present Day!)

The year isn't over yet but this is what I have so far. I actually have done very little art this year, but I did try to spend more time per piece then ever before. Maybe it even paid off!

That's all for now. Is there an 'era' of my art that you liked more than others? How much have you evolved in your craft and do you have a kind of timeline to look back on? It's crazy how time flies... Stay tuned for my last Blaugust post tomorrow, it's gonna be a long one!
