I'm a notebook fanatic. No, really. From the beginning of time I've hoarded and kept notebooks. I draw almost exclusively digitally now but I still use planners for all my day to day beeswax and I never could journal digitally. Feel like I'm always self-censoring. This is to say that I have come to keep a collection of 100s of notebooks. Hoarder? I hardly know her...
Some of the notebooks I own are pretty old, many from 2006-2012. These have some of the cutest designs, they simply don't make 'em like this anymore. I have started this microsite as a sort of database for the notebooks I own. It's very messy and not made in a smart way. For starters I do not have any nea back-end to actually store each notebook and it's info as separate items. It's just HTML/CSS and I finally figured some Javascript out for the vertical navbar using TEMPLATERR (highly recommend if you're fine with JS).
The hardest work is scanning all the notebooks and indexing them. Once I get done with that I think I'll be ready to publish the site. So far, this is what it looks like:
![]() |
The main page. |
![]() |
Notebook details. |
I'm quite happy with how it looks so hopefully I'll be done with the actual database part this year. Do you think this is a worthwhile project or a total waste of time? Do you like notebooks? Let me know it the comments!
