Blaugust #07: Fanlistings

Some of you may know this already but I'm a total fanlisting fanatic. Fansites and non-Fandom wikis were always important to me and although a fanlisting is a smaller project, I feel like it's always a great addition to more expansive fan efforts. I have 5 fanlistings approved on the TFL network as of now and I've taken a break from them for this month but I'll probably be back at it in September. So here's a bunch of things I would love to make fanlistings for some time in the future, just a list, nothing fancy this time:

Games

Watch_Dogs. When everyone was a hater, I loved this game. Is it without flaw? No. But people were literally so mad. Though I am kind of ashamed of being a Ubisoft fan back in the day.

Watch_Dogs 2. When everyone was a hater AGAIN, I still loved this stupid ass franchise! We had the broody straight guy Chicago version and now we have the fun queer San Fran version. Both were great. I just love the characters (except Horatio, sorry guy) and I can totally agree that the story and arcs are underwritten but that won't stop me.

Mirror's Edge. Look at the pic in the banner of this blog, man! I fucking love this game.

Broken Age. Very underrated, so dark but whimsical and just gorgeous.

ABZU. You're a little diver of mysterious origins restoring life to different aquatic areas. As close as we'll get to a mermaid game, I love ABZU so much.

Movies

Blue Gate Crossing. Probably my favourite movie ever. A nostalgic setting, very real characters, an end that feels right. I don't even wanna say more, if you haven't seen it go and watch it (it's on IA).

Stick It. Just one of the most fun movies ever with an amazing cast. Many iconic lines. Even better than Bring It On, yeah I said it!

Trick Or Treat (1986). A lesser known horror-metal movie that is for some reason deeply ingrained in my brain all the time.

Sinbad (2003). One of the best 2D movies ever, they don't make 'em like this anymore. Very bisexual movie, it changed my life.

Anime/Manga

Ergo Proxy. Probably my fave anime ever. It has all that deep shit that I don't really understand but like, some off-beat humor, and incredibly beautiful visuals. Even in the entire cyberpunk anime genre there's nothing quite like it.

Bucchigiri?!. So it seems I have bad taste because I often like stuff that is universally hated. I don't care! This one slaps it has a fun cast of characters, some better than others, and sick fight scenes.

Saraiya Goyou. An amazing manga, a lot of complexity in such few volumes. Natsume Ono is so amazing.

Tongari no Boushi Atelier. I haven't seen a manga this beautiful since Shimanami Tasogare. A very cool magic system and amazing characters. Read it before we get the anime!

Bands/Musicians

Jason Molina. My all-time favourite musician. I think he's the best songwriter ever.

Sufjan Stevens. Sufjan is like a magician, he takes you a different place every time. I don't usually cry to music but Romulus make me cry or almost cry every time.

Electric President. A childhood favourite, though Radical Face is amazing this is probably my fave of Ben Cooper's projects.

Rival Schools. Just fucking amazing emo? Post-hardcore? Whatever, they rock.

TV/Cartoons

Star Wars: The Clone Wars. I think it's one of the best things in the universe of Star Wars. Maybe I'm being blinded by nostalgia but I'll take it.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Very loyal to the style of Pre-Disney Star Wars. There's just something about the less quippy and darker tone in the Clone Wars that is both here (and obviously in more adult-oriented stuff like Andor). Excellent characters.

Detentionaire. So underrated. If you like stuff like 6teen or maybe even Clone High, this is not the same thing at all but I think you'd appreciate it.

Over The Garden Wall. Ever since I first saw it when it premiered, I was awed. It's so beautiful, mysterious, and even scary.

Misc.

Flip Phones. I'm a collector and big fan of nearly all old style button phones but my favourites have to be clam shell or flip phones. Beautiful designs, cool features...

Krita. The best drawing software, I'm usually not super passionate about programs but Krita deserves all the flowers.

CDs. I'm a collector, it's my favourite way of listening to music.

This post is a real mess. But I'm treating it as a scapbook where I'm keeping track of stuff I want to try in the future. Some of these may already be taken when I get around to them so we'll see how many I actually bring to life. Do you make fanlistings? Do you have any planned for the future? If you don't, what do you love enough to make a fanlisting for?
